Gehry's first public building in New York City, located near the south end of the Chelsea Piers, would be most strikingly viewed from the water, especially since the repeated tiers have often been compared to sails. It is located across West Side Highway which hugs the edge of the Hudson River. This nine-story building, more than 150 feet tall, is clad in smokey white glass. At night the building's walls seem transparent.

Este inmueble noeyorquino, diseño del arquitecto David Childs del estudio Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, también nombrado Columbus Center, sede central de la empresa de medios de comunicación Times Warner, es un edificio de aspecto inusual que no ha encontrado repercusión en los alrededores debido a enfoques arquitectónicos contradictorios que se desvían a favor de una aglomeración de geometrías de menores dimensiones en lugar de los 260.000 metros cuadrados que ofrece el Centro. En este lugar se levantaba el New York Coliseum, con 26 pisos y demolido en el 2000.
